We are evaluating Genome Browsers to be embedded in our functional genomics website.  We are currently using GBrowse, but it is getting long in the tooth.  Others we are looking at are JBrowse and BioDalliance.

Is Trackster available for stand-alone installation, without a galaxy instance?  Is there documentation and support for such a use?

As usual, Jen is spot-on in her reply. We definitely want to make Trackster stand-alone, but it's not there yet. Here's a card that outlines what needs to be done: This a long-term project that I expect will take 6-12 months. If you are interested in helping, please add a comment to the card.

Best, J.

Hi Steve,

A stand-alone Trackster application is a longer-term goal for us. Much remains to be done, but much progress has been made, too.

I sent a question out to the tool author on our team (Jeremy Goecks) yesterday, shortly after your post, about recommendations, but reply is pending (very busy with start of academic year, like most teaching!). I will post comments back here, or he will directly, once we have them. But I didn't want to wait too much longer to give you the basic status.

Thanks for the question. That there is interest in this is always good feedback. If others reading this post would also like to see this direction in development, upvote the original question and we'll see that. (No Trello ticket to vote on, yet)

Thanks again, Jen, Galaxy team
