Hello,

I created an NGS mapping job over Galaxy today at 18:45. Is it normal that it is still in grey and saying that the job is waiting to run? If that is normal, is there a way to see the estimated time of waiting, or at least my place in the queue? That would be really helpful in my opinion.

Last question: when I generated the job I wasn't logged in Galaxy, actually I didn't even have an account. But then I registered and got an account. Is the job now linked to my account and is it safe to just close the browser, would that result in loss of my place in the queue? Thanks very much!

Hey Kurt,

I've been using the Galaxy implemented mapping tools for a while and that delay is perfectly normal. You can actually see similar questions throughout this forum. This happens because Galaxy executes the different jobs in different nodes so lighter jobs are executed right away while slower jobs have to wait on the line for the nodes reserved to them.

Sometimes a job stays "gray" for as long as 2 days before it starts running (in my experience).
