Is there anyway to install Galaxy with Python3.6 ?

I tried but got following message:

Your Python version is: 3.6 Galaxy is currently supported on Python 2.7 only. To run Galaxy, please download and install a supported version from python.org. If a supported version is installed but is not your default, getgalaxy.org contains instructions on how to force Galaxy to use a different version.

Hello,

You'll need to get the older version of Python and install it. As the message states, admin configuration help is at: https://galaxyproject.org/admin/get-galaxy/#configure-for-production

Thanks! Jen, Galaxy

This is ridiculous. Python 2 is at the end of its life. Support for it will stop in 2020, so for all of us, especially those of us brand new to Python, we'd be in serious trouble.

"This is ridiculous" is not a helpful addition to the conversation here. Galaxy certainly isn't the last large python application yet to be py3 ready, and most OS distributions ship with and default to 2.x still.

Anyway, a lot of work has gone into getting Galaxy ready to run under Python 3, and it'll be official soon. Well before 2020. Until then, it should be pretty easy to follow the installation instructions to get it running -- or feel free to use the prebuilt docker container that requires zero configuration.

Sorry about that "ridiculous" remark. I was struggling considerably with trying to use Galaxy on my Windows computer and this was before I saw that the transition to Python 3 was already in progress. I quit Coursera, so I no longer need help with Galaxy.
