Dear all,

I would like to connect new Galaxy instance to the old database (database from my previous old Galaxy). Is that possible to do and how? Old database was created in PostgreSQL. I am pretty new in this field and not aware of all those tricks.

Thanks in advance. Best, Maki

Hi Maki

Yes, this can be done. Just copy the '#database_connection' line from the galaxy.ini file in the old server to the galaxy.ini file in the new server.....HOWEVER, you will most likely run into several problems, which might be very tricky to solve. So I strongly suggest NOT to do it.

So, let me ask you back: Why do you wanna do it?

Regards, Hans-Rudolf

Hi Hans-Rudolf,

Thanks for response. I accidentally deleted galaxy from my colleague server and I didn't know it wasn't backup. Since datasets and database are still there, we thought that solution could be to clone new instance and connect it to the old database.

thanks, Maki
