Hello,

We are about to run out of space on our Galaxy instance. I purged some histories in order to free up some space. However, no space is freed. No files are deleted after I purge the histories. Do I need to manually delete all the files? Thank you!

Best, Yating

This is a matter of galaxy configuration and admin work - generally Galaxy does not physically delete (even purged) datasets until the admin runs a cleanup script.

Check out the following slide deck (especially slides 19+): https://galaxyproject.github.io/dagobah-training/2016-saltlakecity/007-storage/storage.html#19

This is the folder where the cleanup script are: https://github.com/galaxyproject/galaxy/tree/dev/scripts/cleanup_datasets
