Hello,

There are two factors contributing to the delays.

  1. The Galaxy Main server is very busy and one way this will manifest is in slower server response times. Our team is actively addressing how to improve performance as a priority. As a user, when delays occur, waiting for a short time period and then trying the action again is the best solution for now.

  2. Your history is very large (over 4,000 datasets). Even though most of these are permanently deleted (purged), display and other actions performed in a history of this size will be delayed. We are also aware of this issue and actively working to address how to improve performance for such cases. As a user, moving to a new history with fewer total datasets (considering all - in any state) will help.

For 2 above, please make a copy of the entire history (active datasets only) into a new one. Leaving the deleted datasets behind will reduce the server load for many actions. I can see that you are approaching quota size, so permanently deleting more data will be necessary before making a copy. After this is done once, try using distinct histories for different analysis or after deleted data begins to accumulate, to avoid reaching this point again.

If you need more resource for your work, moving a local or cloud Galaxy may be the right choice. https://wiki.galaxyproject.org/BigPicture/Choices

Thanks, Jen, Galaxy team
