I'm trying to access a folder containing fastq files that's located in an S3 bucket from Galaxy. I click on the "load your own data" link on the right and then the "Paste/Fetch data" button. I paste in my S3 url and hit the "Start" button. I end up with some HTML that contains an "Access Denied" message.

1. The bucket has no ACL or policy attached to it

2. The user that is associated with Galaxy has the policies "AdministratorAccess" and "AmazonS3FullAccess" associated with it. (I would have thought that only the first one was necessary, but added the second when I got "Access Denied" the first time).

What do I need to do to enable Galaxy to access my S3 bucket?

Thank you in advance for your assistance!

Hello,

Galaxy needs to know about your bucket. This wiki has instructions for setting that up:

Thank you for your reply. I edited the file "persistent_data.yaml" in Galaxy's default bucket and added the user data field "bucket_default" in the following format:

bucket_default: <my bucket name>

I then restarted the cluster via the admin page but still get "access denied" when I try to load user data from my bucket.

Any additional help would be appreciated.
